We are currently in the process of appealing for donations to enable us to repair, renovate and redecorate the church in tme for it's 150th anniversary.
Over the last 5 years we have spent some £37,500 on such work, but there is much remaining to be done.
The most important issue we now have relates to the guttering. There is a video presentation going though the threat to the building and our proposed solution. This is the target for our Appeal 150 programme.
In the future we will have to deal with other issues, and in this gallery we show you some these:
- Degradation of the exterior stonework, and especially crumbling round the main door arch, a favourite site for wedding photos
- Crumbling stonework on some upper arches resulting in loose sandy dust raining down onto the seating and requiring constant cleaning before a service
- Crumbling stonework around window areas
- Of especial worry, significant crumbling of the stone around the large east window. Each year in preparation for Christmas, we remove a bucket full of sand from the large sill area
