Quarndon Scarecrow Event July 2020

Quarndon village had originally planned an open gardens event for July 2020, including having scarecrows placed throughput the village. Covid 19 put paid to the open gardens, but it was decided, in view of some loosening of restrictions, that the scarecrow part would go ahead. St Paul's took part as planned, with a theme of 'Saints Old and New'. Due to the unfortunate bad weather the start was delayed, but eventually took place from July 10 - 13th.

Repairs and Renovations Summer 2020

Finally, after a long process of investigation, planning and obtaining permissions, the work planned on our gutters, roof and internally water damaged walls started rather belatedly due to the Covid 19 events. The work involved replacing all the old and corroded cast iron gutters with extruded aluminium by removing three rows of slates, carrying out various repairs on the roof, and then carrying out remedial work on the internal walls.

Christmas Tree Festival 2019

Running over three days from December 13th to 15th with 25 wonderfully decorated trees sponsored by a variety of local businesses, individuals and families the event featured music from Mrs Inglefield's recorder group, the St Edmund's Handbell Ringers and the St Clement's Singers, concluding with Carols Round teh Trees on teh Sunday evening. Thank you everyone who took part and made this such a successful event.

Remembrance 2019

This year we were delighted to welcome Quarndon Brownies to join us in our Remembrance Service. As part of teh worship, everyone was invited to make a large poppy and label it with either one of the names in our Book of Remembrance or teh name of a lost loved one. These were then displayed round the Remembrance Area.

Light Party 2019

On October 31st, Halloween, as an alternative to the usual 'scary' goings on, St Paul's held a Light Party where, with lots of pretty fairy lights all round the church, everyone was invited to join in lots of fun and games.

Open the Book Celebration

 Open the Book is an organisation providing access for schools to bible stories provide by local volunteers. In 1999 a small group of church volunteers started going into primary school assemblies in Bedford to read and act out stories using The Lion Storyteller Bible. After being inspired by this, the project spread into Gloucestershire in 2001, and shortly after that the idea was taken up by the Duffield Deanery in Derbyshire. Later, in 2007, a national charity was formed. With increasing growth of volunteer numbers into the thousands, OtB joined Bible Society in 2013 and the national organisation is 20 years old in 2019.

Summer Holiday Club 2018

Image1sml.pngRunning from July 31st to August 3rd, each morning, led by Anna (our children's worker), we had great fun exploring four ideas: Adventure, Courage, Obedience and Love with our group of school age children, while the preschoolers had their own fun with their carers. On the final day there was a picnic lunch in the wonderful sunshine.

Christmas Tree Festival 2017

This was a really memorable event, starting at 1.30 on Friday 8th December with 25 beautifully decorated trees sponsored and decorated by individuals, organisations and businesses in our area.

There was a competition to find the 14 decorated rocks showing characters from the Nativity story and parts of a quotation from a prophecy about the birth of Jesus hidden around the event,

On the Saturday evening we had a Candlelit Christmas Medley with the St. Clement's Singers and David Johnson, and on Sunday we concluded with Carols Round the Trees, when the winners of the rocks competition were announced, and also the result for the votes for the best tree, jointly won by Alison McGregor and Quarndon Brownies.
